I went with my family a few weekends ago and had a blast! I even got to be the volunteer dolphin trainer and was able to give the dolphin a signal to perform a trick and then praise her by petting her belly!!! She felt very smooth and slippery, like wet rubber. It was very exciting!! Enjoy the pictures!!!

The story..it was the first special game of the night, make the letter “H”. I joked to my boyfriend and said that I should win this since my name is Heather and begins with an “H”. I only needed about 8 more numbers to win so was not too excited. Then they called six of my numbers in a row!! I couldn’t believe it. When they called my final number I literally jumped up and screamed BINGO!!!!!! I was so excited when I went to dab my final number I actually missed my sheet and stamped the table!

I won the family fun night basket. It was a huge basket filled with all sorts of games. I was pretty excited because I thought to myself..now I have all sorts of Christmas presents to give to my younger cousins!

This was my first ever bingo win and it was very exciting!!!

So the semester is winding down and coming to an end..with the anticipation of winter break comes the stress of finals and projects that we all know we have put off. Why do we do this to ourselves? Every semester it seems, we know that we have finals to worry about, but on top of that we cause ourselves more stress because assignments that we may have gotten a few weeks earlier remain unfinished until the last minute when we have other assignments due as well…I am cursing myself for not staying more on top of things.

Some advice, DON”T PROCRASTINATE!! I know it’s easier said than done. But on another note..GOOD LUCK ON FINALSSS!!!!!

There will be lots of events going on during finals week hosted by different RA’s to help take the stress away and the edge off. I know in the past there has been free massages and hot cocoa and more fun activities. I encourage everyone to attend and take a break from studying..we deserve it!

My roommate and I went to Applebee’s this past weekend. I have never been and it was pretty good, similar to a Friday’s or Ruby Tuesdays. We got a lot of food for a fair price which is always a good thing (in my mind). We ordered the two for $20 and were able to get one appetizer and two entrees for only $20!

There was a pretty good variety of entrees to choose from and about four appetizers you could choose. We ordered onion rings and then I got some sort of chicken pasta and my roommate ordered zesty lime chicken. She enjoyed her dish and I enjoyed mine. We left feeling very satisfied!

I am not sure if there is one closer but we went to the Applebee’s on Padonia Road, about a 20 minute drive. Now typically I would not drive that far for Applebee’s, I could settle for Friday’s right down the road, but we happened to be in the area and decided to stop.

Togas and Guitar Hero, sounds like my kind of night! This is in reference to the volunteer activity I participated in that I wrote about earlier, CAACURH! I think all that attended can say that it was a huge success. I felt very helpful and had a lot of fun as a volunteer, I can’t imagine how fun the experience must have been for those who were actually in a position at the conference.

My roommate and I showed up at the hotel around 4pm and collected “spirit beads” from other colleges and university’s that entered the hotel. Now we weren’t exactly sure what the spirit beads were for but we do know that you wanted a lot and the school the earned the most spirit beads throughout the conference won some sort of prize. After counting and tallying the winner we were told to come back later to help with the after party.

The after party…this was a good time! Everyone came out dressed in togas with ivy in their hair and were ready to have a good time. There was an entire room with a DJ for dancing and there was a separate room with refreshments and snacks and GUITAR HERO set up on a giant monitor with loud speakers!! I was in charge of the sign up sheet and encouraging people to sign up, and believe me, it didn’t take much. I rocked out to songs like “Santeria” and “Beat It”..it was a lot of fun watching people jam on the guitars and belt it (some not that great) on the mic.

Although volunteering was fun, next year I would love to get involved on the committee and encourage many people to check it out!!

You can purchase your tickets from any sorority member for $15 but if you get your tickets at the door tomorrow evening they will be $20. Make sure and get there early because if it’s going to be anything like it was last year people will be fighting for seats!

SubConnection was new to the Owings Mills campus in the spring of 2006 when the Rockland Center (dining hall) opened. It is very similar to a Subway where one could order made-to-order subs. One meal swipe could get you a 6-inch sub, chips, fruit or cookies and a 20oz soda. Pre-made salads were also served but cash, credit card or flex dollars had to be used. SubConnection was open until 11 for those late night hunger strikes (I think that was when it was actually busiest). Pandini’s is a new addition to the Owings Mills campus and is located where SubConnection used to be. SubConnection has moved to the Greenspring campus in place of Campus Perks (real bummer in my opinion, I LOVED Campus Perks). Pandini’s serves many Italian dishes such as pizza, ciabatta sandwiches, calzones, several salads, bread sticks, pasta dishes and several desserts such as cheesecake, eclairs and cannolis. You can choose any one of these and a 20oz soda for a meal swipe and you have the option of adding a small Caesar salad for an additional meal swipe.

They are both delicious but I decided to survey several Stevenson University students to see which they preferred. I surveyed 15 students and it came back 11 to 4 in favor of SubConnection.

For those of you attending Stevenson University, students, faculty, staff or even if you have come for a visit, I would appreciate your comments on both SubConnection and Pandini’s. Which do you prefer and why?

SubConnection photos will be posted shortly

It is very easy to get behind in your school work. Do not be afraid to tell them you have too much school work to do and need off or to be cut early, they will accommodate you.
