Race for the Cure
Posted by heatherhanley in : Uncategorized , add a commentOn Sunday, October 19th I participated in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk. It began at 8:45am in Hunt Valley, Maryland. It was the first Walk I’d ever participated in and I had a great time! There were so many people, over 35,000 and everyone was in such a positive mood! My roommate and I left our apartment around 8am for the race. We had to park almost a mile away from the starting line! It was a 5K walk which equals about 3.1 miles. You had the option to stop an 1 mile if you would like. The timed race for runners began at 8am but the festivities such as motivational speakers and survivor stories began at 6am! It was a beautiful day and I cannot wait for the next benefit walk. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make a difference and participate in something great. It was only a $30 registration fee and they provided you with a t-shirt. I received an e-mail recently that told me over $2.8 million dollars was raised at this walk! Enjoy the pictures!
