Saw V October 29, 2008
Posted by heatherhanley in : Owings Mills Entertainment , add a commentIn order to prepare for Halloween, some friends and I thought there would not be a better idea than to go and see Saw V. Saw V premiered in theatres last Friday, 10/24. We decided to head over early and get the tickets so we would be guaranteed to see the movie. It started at 9:40pm and we decided to go over at 9pm to get good seats..of course thinking 40 minutes would be plenty of time. We strolled in expecting to get good seats somewhere in the middle towards the back. YEAH RIGHT! When we walked in and it was already packed! There were 5 of us and we did not think we were going to find 5 seats together unless we sat in the very front row practically leaning backwards to see the movie. We were lucky enough to find 5 seats together that weren’t in the front row but pretty close.
I was pretty excited to see the movie because I love the Saw series..I have seen every one in theatres. Saw V was pretty good..it was not as gorey as the others and I think I seem to prefer that more. This movie was more of an explanation of Saw I-IV. As always, the director comes up with more creative and horrifying ways to torture and harm someone. There was rumor that this was the last Saw but I sure hope not!
Visit From Dad October 12, 2008
Posted by heatherhanley in : Owings Mills Entertainment , 1 comment so farMy father lives in Norfolk, VA so needless to say I do not get to see him very much when I am at school. Whenever he is in the area for business he always stops by and we run some errands and have dinner. I love when he comes, usually about once every 2 months because he always stocks me up groceries, toiletries and anything else I may need. Plus I get an awesome dinner! Oh and of course because I love seeing him..lol. Well he was in Philadelphia for business this past Wednesday-Friday so he decided to stop here Thursday afternoon after his meetings. He arrived at around 4:00pm and he checked out my new apartment. He loved it! He loved seeing how all the great things he has bought and givenme and my roommates had come together. We chatted for a while and then he took me and one of my roommates to Target to stock up. After Target we contemplated where to have dinner before finally deciding on Bonefish Grill at the bottom of the hill on the Owings Mills Campus. This was my first time to Bonefish and it was AMAZING!! We started out with 2 appetizers, the crab cakes and Bang Bang shrimp. The shrimp were first breaded and fried and then covered in a spicy, sweet sauce and served on a bed of greens. They were absolutely delicious!!! For my entree I ordered Longfin Tilapia stuffed with crab, shrimp and scallops and served with a caper imperial sauce. It was sooooo goooood!!!! My roommate ordered the same thing and my father order Chilean Sea Bass with a mango salsa sauce. He enjoyed his as well. And then for dessert we split a key lime pie and a Creme Brulee as well as three coffees…yummmy! Every time my dad comes to visit it’s a great time!

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Smoothie King but you MUST try it..it’s AMAZING! I ordered Pineapple Pleasure and it was a mixture or pineapple, strawberry, kiwi, banana, papaya and several other healthy ingredients. It was delicious and as a bonus…we got $1.00 off because we had a coupon that was advertised in Stevenson’s newspaper, The Villager. Yum Yum Yum!!!
Good Eats! September 28, 2008
Posted by heatherhanley in : Owings Mills Entertainment , add a commentSo tonight some friends and I went to Corner Stable, a fun restaurant located on York Road in Cockeysville, about 15-20 minutes from the Owings Mills dorms. Corner Stable is famous for their ribs and crabcakes and was voted “Best Barbeque in Baltimore” from AOL CityBest. The service is always very quick and friendly. If you’re looking for a good night out with friends and fall-off the bone ribs than Corner Stable is the place for you!
Enjoy the video of some fellow Stevenson University students enjoying their dinner at Corner Stable!

So I know you’re probably thinking…typical girl, writing about shopping for her first blog…but seriously, the Owings Mills Mall located just 5 minutes from the Owings Mills dorms, is great! Boscov’s, a department store, is closing its Owings Mills location and struggling college students like myself are reaping the benefits! All store item prices are slashed 70-90%!! To give you an idea of just how major this is, I got three panels of curtains to hang in my on-campus apartment for a total of only $8.40!!! They are selling everything in the store, and when I say everything I mean everything…from clothing and jewelry to the display cases and manikins.
It is great having the mall right down the street. Anytime you realize, oh shoot!, I forgot about my presentation tomorrow in public speaking and I don’t have any dress clothes!, the Owings Mills Mall is just a hop-skip-and a jump away. It has stores like Macy’s, JC Penney, Forever 21, American Eagle, Express, New York & Company, Victoria’s Secret and many more! Or say rather than an afternoon of shopping you and your friends would rather catch a matinee movie. AMC movies is located right next to the mall! It always plays all of the popular films and on Thursdays with your school ID you can see a movie for a discounted price!
Needless to say there is lots of entertainment located near the dorms, the mall is only one of them! Happy shopping!
