Let me just tell you that nothing makes me happier in the world than new sheets..they are truly my simple pleasure. I love shopping for sheets, I love changing my sheets..I just love everything about them. I love finding new crazy and colorful patterned sheets, and I love just clean, plain, white sheets. How many sets of sheets do you think the average college students owns..3 maybe 4 max? Well I have 8!! And that’s only here at school..I have plenty more twin XL’s at home..8 was all that I could fit in my drawer..that’s right, I have an entire drawer dedicated to my sheets. And let me just tell you..all of friends will tell you that I’m nuts..but I change my sheets all the time..not because they are all that dirty but because I get tired of the same sheets and want to see a change. It’s my small way of change in my life, mixing it up a little..I know, a real daredevil :) Now we all have our simple pleasures in life, whether it be that cup of coffee in the morning, or that pull through pa(rking spot (we all <3 them) mine just happens to be sheets! Here’s some pictures of some of my sheets (the bubble sheets are my favorite!)

Hanging Out..

Here are some friends hanging out in my apartment playing Mario Cart on Wii. This was the first week back at Stevenson which explains why we all aren’t buckled down doing homework yet ;) The standard apartment at SU comes with a couch and two lounge chairs, a coffee table and an end table in the living room, each bedroom has a bed, desk and chair, nightstand and dresser and the kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator, oven/stove and four stools. As you can see we dressed our couches and chairs up a little with slip covers and threw some flowers and an area rug in there to make it more homey. Now that we are further in the semester we have paintings on the walls and curtains up. I’ll have to post up-to-date pictures of the apartment soon :)

Accounting Association

As a member of the Accounting Association at Stevenson University you are expected to attend a meeting biweekly and pay dues to the club. You have a choice of $10.00 for the year or $8.00 for the semester. At a meeting you can expect pizza and refreshments as well as conversation and discussion about upcoming events or feedback on recent events. Professor Barbara Vlaisavljevic moderates the association and is accompanied by seven student executive board members. As a member you can expect to meet other accounting majors at Stevenson as well as have the opportunity to meet and interact with others in your profession, whether it be alumnus or possible employers.

The Accounting Association recently hosted Stevenson University’s Accounting Fair. The Accounting Fair is held every fall semester and all accounting majors are encouraged to attend. Sophomore, Junior and Senior accounting majors are advised to bring an updated resume to distribute to prospective employers. It gives all accounting majors a chance to speak to employers at different firms with a goal to land a job or internship. Freshman are encouraged to attend simply for experience and can pass out resumes’ if they choose. Member Matthew Zinner stated, “Approximately 35 firms attended the Accounting Fair this year and I would say it was an overall success.”

As an accounting major you are automatically a member of the Accounting Association and are simply expected to pay your dues in order to continue membership. For more information you can visit their website http://www8.vjc.edu/AccountingAssociation/

Long Day!

Wow!..was today a long day, I thought it would never end! My day began when Metrostation singing “Shake it” woke me up at 7am this morning. Of course, in true fashion, I turned my alarm off and woke up 40 minutes later in a panic realizing I had to catch the shuttle in 30 min! I hurried and jumped in the shower angry at myself because I no longer had time to blow dry my hair as I had hoped but instead just had to throw it up wet. I grabbed a quick bowl of cereal and was out the door for the shuttle by 8:15.

Organic was at 9am and it wasn’t too bad. The SI (supplemental instructor) led the class and we mostly did review. Bio was at 11 and that’s when I realized I had forgotten my data that I needed for lab at 2pm. So of course I had to get back on the shuttle at 12pm after bio to go back to my room and get my data. I ate some lunch in my room, got the data worksheet and was back on the 1:30 shuttle to Greenspring. My lab instructor lectured for two long hours about our data, compiling graphs and analyzing our data for our giant scientific journal article due before the end of the semester. We then went into the lab room and needed to analyze and perform different tests on field data we had collected over the past 4 field labs. All of the data collected then needed to be entered into an excel spreadsheet. As it turned out most of my classmates left and another student and I were left in the lab until 6:15pm, mind you my lab period is supposed to be from 2pm-5pm, to finish entering all of the data. Since I did not leave until 6:15 I missed the 6:00pm shuttle. I decided to go to SubConnection and get a sub while I waited for the 6:30 shuttle. I finally arrived back in my room at 6:45pm. But what awaits me…homework and the gym…yay!! Hopefully Thursday takes it a little easier on me :)

The good news is that I don’t have bio lab next week :)
